Nominate a Drum Major (Age 18+)

In 500 words or less, please describe the nature of nominee’s contributions to community service and why they deserve the Central PA MLK Day Drum Major Award. Make sure to describe how the nominee’s community service aligns with Dr. King’s legacy of servant leadership. Consider the following in your response: (1) focus on the well-being of others; (2) acting with integrity; (3) modeling strength through adversity; and (4) promoting the "Beloved Community." Dr. King described the “Beloved Community” as a society where “caring and compassion drive political policies that support the worldwide elimination of poverty and hunger and all forms of bigotry and violence. At its core, the ‘Beloved Community’ is an engine of reconciliation.”

Given to students who make a significant positive impact in their community through their dedication and hard work during service activities, making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. (Serving the Community.

Jr. Drum Major for Service Leadership Award

This award recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional leadership, guiding their peers in service projects and embodying Dr. King's values of equality, nonviolence, and compassion. (Anti-Bullying)

Jr. Drum Major for Youth Changemaker Award

This award celebrates young individuals who inspire change and motivate others to get involved in community service, showcasing innovation, creativity, and initiative in their contributions.(Making a change at their school)
